Opposite problem - I can only access my bank's website if VPN is ON

Up until two days ago in the afternoon, I was able to access my bank's website without vpn (because I never turn on vpn when I'm at home). I accessed it that morning but by afternoon, I kept getting "…site can't be reached, took too long to respond…". I use Chrome but I also tried it on Edge - same thing. Nor can I access the app on my cell anymore. I tried it on my work/company laptop and I got in! What was the difference between that laptop and mine - Bitdefender. So I turned on Bitdefender's vpn and I got in! What do I need to do to get back to the good ol' days when I can just look at my bank account whenever I wanted to. BTW, none of my other bank websites - or non-bank websites - are exhibiting this behavior. Thanks!

  • Hello,

I would also look at the security modules in Bitdefender, so you can temporarily disable them one by one and see if the bank's website can be reached after each deactivation. Just make sure to re-enable your defenses once you finish troubleshooting. Here's the full procedure:

Like you guessed, this usually happens the other way around when using a VPN to access bank websites, sometimes due to the over vigilance of several banks, connecting a VPN often triggers fraud warnings when you use it to conduct your online banking. So, it's very unusual to hear that the site can be accessed ONLY with a VPN connection.

Let us know how the troubleshooting process goes.
