macOS Sequoia

Is there an announced agent upgrade for macOS Sequoia? I upgraded from Big Sur and then suddenly Bitdefender wouldn't play nice with Time Machine backups, so I contacted Bitdefender support and they said it isn't available for Monterey yet, so I uninstalled it.

  • Hello,

Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac is compatible with macOS Sequoia (version 15.x) released on September 16, 2024 and all new Macs with ARM-based Apple Silicon processors. The software is also fully compatible with macOS Monterey (version 12.x) released on October 25, 2021, so I'm not sure exactly what the Support teams meant.. or maybe I don't understand the question?

In regard to Time Machine backups, have a look at this article:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/14812/

Now, I could check what the Support teams said, but first I would require the full context of your request, what exactly happens with Time Machine backups after the latest update?

    Thanks,

  • I'm having the same problem with Time Machine not running after installing Sequouia 15.0.1. The error message I get is :

This is not the first time after an upgrade of Mac OS that I've had BitDefender disable backups. How do I know which version of Bitdefender I am using and how to

upgrade to the latest version of Bitdefender (using Netgear Armor version)?

  • Hello @netbill2,

To find out the version / build number of the Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac app installed on your Mac:

    1. Click the  Β  icon in the menu bar and choose “Open Main Window” to bring up Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac.
    2. Click Antivirus for Mac in the top menu bar.
    3. Choose About Antivirus for Mac.
    4. The Version number is displayed below Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac.

The automatic update is enabled by default. If you are connected to the Internet and Bitdefender Shield is enabled in Preferences > Protection, Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac checks for software updates every hour. When an update is detected, it is automatically downloaded and installed on your Mac.

You can also perform manual updates at any time. An active Internet connection is required to check for available updates and download them. To check for updates manually:

    1. Click the Β icon in the menu bar and choose Open Antivirus interface to bring up Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac.
    2. Click Actions in the top menu bar.
    3. Choose Update threat information database. Or hold down at the same time the Command ⌘ key and the key.
    4. Bitdefender will check for updates.
    5. If an update is available, it is automatically downloaded and installed on your Mac. The update process might take a while.
    6. When a product update is available (product updates include app improvements and bug fixes) a pop-up window will inform you to restart the system. Click Restart to upgrade or manually restart the Mac.

In regard to the error message you have encountered, I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Teams, as more information might be required to troubleshoot this. You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

    I hope this helps.
