Did I compromise security by manually removing com.bitdefender.dmg from scanning exception list?

I recently saw that com.bitdefender.dmg was in the scanning exception list. I removed it from the list, thinking it was some sort of bug. I later found out from the forum post below that this is expected behavior. I haven't seen the exception pop up again during scans, including scans of .dmg files. In the explanation for the exception in the below post, it says:

"This exclusion is pre-configured by Bitdefender, not something you need to manage manually. This minimizes the risk of accidentally removing it and compromising security."

Did I compromise my security by removing it? Have I affected Bitdefender's ability to detect malware and other threats?

    Hello @uv,

That's a temporary path that the antivirus deletes after a while anyway, so there is no problem if you remove it.

  • Hi @anoboy,

I don't think that's possible. like I said above, that temporary path is deleted anyway after a while.
