How to stop the notifications about the online threats?
I am getting fed up with the constant notifications about BitDefender blocking online threats. Great job. Now can you just do it without telling me about them all the time??
Machines get probed and scanned all the time. Just block them silently.
Even when I am on a webpage and just reading, I get these notifications.
Just block what you have to block. There will never be time for me to exclude bad sites… so I never need to see these notifications.
Can these notifications be disabled? I don't want to be bothered by them. If I need to exclude something, give me the option where I can do this manually and on demand.
Some of us are technical people and we can do this. No need to hand hold us.

I understand that this Work Profile causes updates/scans to be postponed so therefore is not a permanent solution.
Why can't we just have the ability to receive these notifications silently?0 -
@Alexandru_BD @camarie any thoughts about the ability to be able to block all the notifications pop-ups?

How is this still an issue in 2025?
So much of Bitdefender continues to be utterly unusable for advanced users - who just want to shut the notifications up.0 -
Hello,
I think it's important to mention certain aspects of such notifications as well as their role in a security product. Notifications are an important tool in monitoring and managing your Bitdefender protection. When it comes to threats detected, the fact that various types of notifications were suppressed does not mean that the product will no longer communicate operation or detection issues. There are still many situations where the user must be aware of what is happening. This is not an issue (except where the notification is not triggered as intended, or is triggered subsequently for the same detection) but a security feature of the antivirus.
Whenever something relevant to the security of your system or data happens, such notifications play a key role in raising awareness of the events happening on the device and send assurances that the product is operating as expected. Options may be provided to take further action, if needed. Being a security product by design, it does not have a toggle to disable security-related notifications, as this would defy the whole purpose of having an interactive antivirus that provides feedback and alerts the user of any potential threats or attacks coming their way.Furthermore, having such a feature could pose a risk for the more inexperienced users and may lead to unwanted security events or vulnerabilities. I think we should take into account the fact that the security solution is meant to cover both the needs of more advanced users and those of users inexperienced with such applications and less familiar with the threats they may be exposed to in the online environment. Taking all possible risks into consideration, but also technical implications involving the whole architecture of the solution that would require significant modifications, the security researchers and developers have decided that the antivirus will not have a "silent" feature when it comes to threats detected.
If, however, there is an unexpected and unnatural behaviour in the way the notifications are being displayed (and by this I mean a threat that is successively triggering a particular notification several times in a row, like explained previously), this is entirely a different story. In this scenario, the solution is not to disable the notifications entirely, but to find the root cause and see what threats are triggering the notification, to what extent and frequence, establish if there are any imminent dangers and address them and of course fix the unwanted behavior of the notification in the process.
I hope my explanations bring more clarity and I am thankful for your understanding.

"Furthermore, having such a feature could pose a risk for the more inexperienced users"
So why not add an option for experienced users with plenty of warnings? Seems that you prefer to treat us all as dumb to make your lives easier.

For experienced users this is utter rubbish. We are not children & do not need constant pop ups. A simple taskbar icon change would be sufficient if you really felt the need to notify us of something.0 -
In my opinion, adding more warnings like you suggested is not really feasible, nor recommended. You'll have a bunch of additional windows and options to click on (Y/N, are you sure, etc.) and you can't really split the architecture of the product with specific settings for advanced and less tech savvy users, the software needs to be able to satisfy both categories of users in the same form and in an equal manner. Not to mention all the backend adjustments that must be made in the notification flows and triggers. But again, this defies the whole purpose of the security solution and I can already imagine how silencing the detection notifications can go wrong in so many ways for the user. I also think the taskbar icon is not the most suitable place to display such important information, since any changes there can be easily overlooked.
I remember we once had a similar and very insightful discussion on this forum regarding complete deactivation of the antivirus protection. And disabling security notifications is not far from this topic. What I think must be considered here is that there are legitimate reasons for which such features are currently unavailable or won't be developed anytime soon.
I think it's important to have the full perspective when it comes to product changes that may affect the security of the users and to analyze every aspect of this proposal. Keep in mind that, when adjusting the products or developing new features, the product management teams always take multiple criteria into account and each modification must be designed for both advanced users and less tech savvy users as well, to meet overall requirements. The developers understand that some users may have specific needs and that there are situations in which you are willing to expose yourself, either to get a better experience during the games or to run certain tests, or simply not to be informed of any threats right away, and the fact that the security solution does not facilitate an option to completely disable detection notifications, nor protection altogether for that matter, may pose an inconvenience.
However, the first and perhaps most important measure of protection is prevention. As a trusted service provider, Bitdefender is responsible for the integrity of your systems and data, and any vulnerability can be exploited, which they want to avoid completely, as part of their promise to keep users safe at all times. As a security company, they are at the forefront of the evolution of threats and their manifestations, and the fight between them and the bad guys is happening behind the scenes, as transparent as possible for users. For this reason, the security solutions include several layers (prevention, protection, remediation - to name a few) and complex technologies developed precisely to ensure that the antivirus can protect everything that is important to you.
The product developers and security researchers always take into account all possible vulnerabilities and scenarios of usage. Having an option to completely disable the 'threat detected' notifications can pose certain risks for less tech savvy users, and that's a concern which cannot be ignored. Sure, I think there are many users out there who prefer a set-it-and-forget-it type of security solution, and generally speaking, Bitdefender is such a product, but at the same time it does offer ways to fiddle more with what's included inside, and that's especially appreciated by more tech savvy users. I mean, you really have dozens of settings to play with inside the product.
Although other security solutions may provide options to turn off everything, this doesn't mean that all vendors should follow the same path. Bitdefender considers these notifications to be very important for ensuring an optimal level of security that lives up to its standards. As explained previously, there are situations where the user must take action, or must be informed of what's happening on the device. Some threats or security events may require immediate intervention, so what happens if the user is not informed accordingly, or does not take the necessary actions in good time? I invite you to think about the real importance of this trade-off.
