Can't Delete Or Quarantine Adware
Hi - my MacBook Air is infected with adware to the point of being functionally useless. I recently purchased Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac (version 3.3.9151) to try to deal with this problem. On my first scan, it found and removed many suspicious files, but for one file it returned a message that the file in question could not be deleted or quarantined. It directed me to delete the file manually, and I moved it to Trash. When I attempted to empty trash, I received a message that the operation could not be completed because the file in question was in use.
The virus is called Adware.MAC.OSX.Bundlore.AN, and the file that won't terminate is called "launch."
The file that can't be deleted must be the main source of my problems, as things have not improved one bit despite Bitdefender's successful deletion of several other suspicious files. So far I have received no benefit from purchasing Bitdefender, as my internet use is continually interrupted with popups and ad bars, and every attempt to navigate to a new site or page results in my browser being hijacked to some random and annoying location.
I really hope you can help me solve this problem.
Thank you -
Jules

I'm looking at my scan report again - it's actually worse than I thought - the report identified six active threats for which quarantine/deletion failed. It won't even let me "reveal in finder" for these, much less manually delete. I can send all the filenames if you want. Please advise.

We recommend using the Bitdefender Adware Removal Tool for Mac, available here:

@ orthocarpus
Sorry to hear about your experience.
Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac is compatible only on Intel-based Macintosh computers with OS X 10.7.5 or later. If you are sure and would like to remove it from your device we recommend you to run again uninstaller:
http://download.bitdefender.com/mac/av/en/...rus_for_mac.dmg
Then manually stop the BDDaemon, BDCoreIssues, BDUpdDaemon processes from Activity Monitor. To access Activity Monitor you can use top or open Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
At the end please run the Uninstaller again.0 -
