Bitdefender Central Is Useless

You click on support, it sends you to a list of suggested articles. You say "bitdefender won't remove trojan" and you get nothing. So how do you get to real actual support? I don't think you can within the program.

  • Hello,

In the product on the top right corner you have a little human icon, if you click on it a small drop down menu will appear, there you will have the option Help&Support.

We will look into the Central search function situation, however I was able to locate some relevant support pages just by simply typing "infected".

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-generate-and-submit-a-scan-log-with-bitdefender-2016-1473.html

You can contact our official support using the details bellow.

    Mail : bitsy@bitdefender.com

    Chat : http://www.bitdefender.com/support/chat-support.html
    Phone : http://www.bitdefender.com/support/consumer-phone.html

There is no help and support option when you click on the icon. There is only a support option in the left menu - which only allows you to search.

  • Hello,

That bit refers to the product itself and not Central.

If you think BD support is crap then try some of the other AV out there. Support is non existent or email only and you MIGHT get a reply ... if you are lucky.

The BD forum support is sooo frustrating I still shudder at the thought of creating a thread ... As I see it BD are in a race to release the new version in about  early July each year

... Ed.2016 in July 2015 ... Ed.2017 in July 2016 ... etc you get the picture. AND this forum IMHO is way understaffed, but it looks like it is improving at glacial speed.

I purchased BD 2015 in March 2015 (after a dalliance with K******y, their online tech screwed my OS ... needed a clean OS install  <img class=" data-emoticon="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" title="" />) 3 months later BD are telling me to upgrade to 2016.,

"but I am just starting to understand 2015, why would I want to change ¿ ":wacko:

What really is annoying is the never ending cycle of ... "Cant find a solution for your problem - open an email ticket" ... click on the link "open an email ticket" and you are back at the same support page <img class=" data-emoticon="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6031943/uploads/ipb_attachments/emoticons/default_angry.png" title="" /> ... and a never ending cycle of "open an email ticket" --> back at support page ... etc, etc ad infinitum

The very small red-envelope icon/link eMail at the top of the support page implies ... at last, progress ! ... BUT you are back at the support page ... again!

The links to email support ticket have not been fixed in over 4 years, and they are still broken.  No wonder customers (yes we are cu$tomer$) get frustrated with this forum

    My solutions:
    Phone support

    -  on each support page in the top right-hand corner are a row of very small red icons under a heading "Directly contact our Support Team"

    -  each icon shows a callout, the last icon is "Phone" ...  click ... shows an international list of global phone numbers

    -  our contact in Australia is directed to Romania (BD HQ?) ... they have saved me hours and days of frustration.  Quicker than this forum

TIP: write down your email address in phonetic alphabet format, before you phone ... BD call centres identify us by our email address.

    -  NATO Phonetic Alphabet -- ex: http://www.osric.com/chris/phonetic.html

    Email support web page:

    -  the UK I know, but it is the only email contact I can find globally, considering how the "open an email ticket" has not worked for me for years. (on 3 PCs)

Just remembered I also use this BD webpage  http://www.bitdefender.com/media/materials/user-guide/en-US/InternetSecurity/current/html/index.html

    -  IMO a handy help webpage and some good info for beginners ... (updated about every 4 years, current is 2016, previous was 2012

    -  but I do not remember where or how I found it, unfortunately drilling up the URL does not find an index page, nor does the BD home page mention it

Google is your friend but for ME https://duckduckgo.com/ (technical search engine) is my better best friend, and without bubbled advertiesments
