Bitdefender causing Time Machine Failure?
Hi, I installed Bitdefender a few days ago.. My network TM backup reported that it was corrupt and needed to be re-created. I setup a wired connect and began a new backup. After about 120gb, or 1 hr... it failed. I jumped through a ton of mac hoops, formatting TM drive, reinstalling the OS, resetting SMC. PRAM, no difference. But uninstalling Bitdefender seems to have resolved the issue... I had tried unclicking the TM protection in preferences... but there is still a file in /Library/Extensions/TMProtection.kext
What is this black box extension doing?
What does the toggle in preferences do?
Could this be causing TM failures with large backups?

Hello,
If the TM is the one causing the issue you would have received a notification that the TM Protection has blocked back-ups.
If the issue persisted after disabling the TM Protection in Bitdefender, the issue is unrelated to our product and would advise contacting Apple.
If you disable a feature, that doesn't mean the file holding the configuration (if its on or off) is deleted.
More details about the product can be found in our userguide.0
