Strange Files in System32 Folder
I had some issues today with the March Windows Updates on my Windows 10 Pro x64 (Build 1607) computer. The thread can be found here.
In the process of troubleshooting my issues I came across some strange files in my C:\Windows\System32 folder.
I opened a couple of them, and they all seem to be related to Bitdefender, possibly when I might have sent in Support Tool logs.
Can these files be safely deleted? What are they for and why didn't Bitdefender clean them out when the support tool logs were submitted or whatever generated them was finished?
Thank you and have a great day.

-Phil

Hello,
The Support Tool generates a temporary folder on the user's desktop to gather the files before archiving them, that folder is deleted upon completion.
Please let me know if you use BAIDU as a search engine and also if you can please provide me with a sample of those files.0 -
Sorin G.:
Thank you for your prompt response.
No, I do not use BAIDU as a search engine. Google Chrome is my default browser and search engine. I use Edge and IE occasionally, but Google is still my default search engine for those two browsers.
I am attaching two of the eighteen files chosen randomly. Funny that your Forum upload tool could not "see" those files in the System32 folder, but could when I copied them to my Downloads folder and pointed your uploader to that folder.
Thank you for looking into this. It is much appreciated. Have a great day.

Hello,
At this time I was unable to reproduce the issue. However we are currently investigating the matter0 -

Thank you for the update. Thank you /index.php?/profile/99693-ozziebear/" data-ipshover-target="https://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?/profile/99693-ozziebear/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="99693" rel="">@ozziebear for reporting that you have found similar files. Glad that I am not alone.
I will await word as to whether it is safe to delete these files, IF you can delete these files.

Hello,
The files are not part of the operating system or Bitdefender's structure.
There shouldn't be any impact on the machine if you delete those files.0 -
Hi...Sorin G, could you be a little more specific as to what these files actually are? Thanks.0 -
Thank you for that information. I have successfully deleted those files from the System32 folder and rebooted. No consequences so far.
May I respectfully suggest that Bitdefender remove any such files, if they are necessary to the Support Tool, upon its completion?
We both know that the System32 folder should not contain such detritus.
Thank you and have a great day.

HOLY ! How about using the bulldozer method - we get right now anyways the new windows creators update - i see u use windows, kean on it. Why not using the bulldozer method and refreshing the system now? My god so many chinese letters! Awfull! Seems not a legal Windows 10 System.
Did u try any crack from china or what? KMS crack from China?!
PS i am honest i only scrolled though here but what i saw.....poooh not good. My advise: do the bulldozer method and format partition C: at least!!!!!!
do the formation by the ZERO METHOD FORMAT. LOW FORMAT! I know takes long but i advise u do it. Cheers.0 -
Your post is nonsensical and not constructive. There is no illegal or cracked software on my computer and there never has been. I am adamantly opposed to software piracy, so I do not appreciate you suggesting, in a public Forum, that I am guilty of such an odious offence.
Bitdefender received copies of those files and Bitdefender does not dispute that the files were created by a Bitdefender program, most probably, their Support Tool and then not deleted upon completion of the Support Tool run.
My computer does not need a low level format. It is functioning perfectly and passes its weekly Bitdefender 2017 Total Security System Scan and Malwarebytes 3.0.6 threat scans. Trust me, I would know if my computer was infected. I am a graduate of the Bleeping Computer Malware Removal Study Hall and help users on that Forum daily to deal with malware removal issues.
Have a great day.

Hello,
Those are corrupted text files from the Bitdefender Submission Wizard. The team handling this module has been notified, thank you for reporting it.

Have a great day.

Hi...Don't mean to keep dragging this out, but could you please tell me what the BD Submission Wizard actually submits. I submitted no support tool log files or anything else that I am aware of.0
