Your Mac is not protected
After rebooting one day, the Bitdefender main window indicates that the Mac is not protected. When clicking on the "log in" in the main window, the Bitdefender Central tries to open, but closes instantly. Open my browser and log in to the Bitdefender Central confirms that I have active subscription and my macbook is protected. After quit the program and re-open the Bitdefender, it is still "not protected". The "my account" in preference does not show anything as if it is logged in. Basically I can log in on a separate browser Bitdefender Central website, but not within the Bitdefender's application. Can anyone help?

Hello Zaburo,
This seems to be caused by an older version of Bitdefender agent. To solve this issue, please follow these steps:
1. Open Terminal from Applications > Utilities
2. Copy-paste the command below and press Enter
sudo /Library/Bitdefender/Central/Agent/bdagentd
3. Type your Mac password and press Enter; you won't get any feedback as you type, nor will you see the cursor; just type it and press Enter
4. The product should become active now. Open the main window and press Command-U to update it
5. When the update is complete, reboot your Mac
6. Now go to Central, download a new installation kit and install Bitdefender as described in this article:

If you encounter an error when trying to uninstall, then proceed with the steps in this article:

This is a workaround for the situations when Bitdefender Uninstaller fails or doesn't exist at /Library/Bitdefender/Central/Agent/BitdefenderUninstaller.
Let us know how it went.

Thanks for your help.
I was able to use the command "sudo /Library/Bitdefender/Central/Agent/bdagentd" and activate the program again, but encountered an error while trying to uninstall the Bitdefender after downloaded the newer version to be installed and replace the older one. After typing the password, it says "unexpected error". I tried few times and no change. I will try to alternative uninstall method shown at the end later after back up my mac as I have not done so for few months. I will post the result once done. Thanks again.0 -
Most likely for me today the most important problem is the safety of my MacBook. As I understand it, Mac is not so safe anymore https://macsecurity.net/view/214-remove-virus-from-macbook-pro

Hello Faust,
As long as you do not install any unknown applications/browser extensions, you should be fine. An weekly Full Scan is recommended as well.
