Bitdefender main window opens every time I log in
The main bitdefender window opens every time I log in to my mac. Is there a way to make it so that it just runs in the background and doesn't make me close the window every single time? I did turn off special offers but that didn't change the behavior.

Hi,
Can you try the steps from this article?
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1720/
The issue described in that article would cause Bitdefender to open every time you start the Mac.0 -
Hi Sergiu,
Thanks for the reply. None of what's in that doc apply. I've been using BD for quite some time now on my old mac. I just got a new one, less than a week old, and installed everything fresh and I get the same behavior. I didn't even port over my old user account from my last mac. Created it from scratch and, like I said, installed everything new. I did look, per the document, and I only have 1 installation of BD nor is it in my Login Items list.
That's the case with my old mac too, now that I look. Just the 1 installation and it is not in my login items.0 -
Hello,
Please contact us at bitsy@bitdefender.com with a BdProfiler log:

When I run BDProfiler.tool it throws an error and quits. It does not output a .zip file as the instructions say it will. I have started over and tried it several times. Always the same message;

Hi,
What OS do you have installed? By any chance is Mojave? If it is, please make sure that you add Terminal in Security and Privacy -> Full Disk Access and then try again to generate the log, after the log is generated, please remove the Terminal from Full Disk Access.0 -
It is Mojave and the results I posted previously were generated after I gave terminal full disk access. I followed the instructions perfectly and tried a handful of times making sure I went through the steps outlined each time.0 -
Hi,
Please try to add the BDProfiler log to Full Disk Access as well and check if you can generate the log.
However, please let us know as well if you have any other application listed at Login Items and in case have, please remove them one by one and reboot your Mac. Does the Bitdefender window prompts at boot-up after removing a particular application?0 -

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the very same problem.0 -

No, after waiting about a month here on the forum for any kind of useful response I opted to emailing support directly. That at least got me responses faster than waiting a week between responses but they still couldn't help. They asked me to collect information from the system logs for them and to run the same log program that I mention above does not run on my system. Nobody seems to respond to that.
I give up on getting decent support from Bitdefender. Since I have a good deal of time left on my subscription I feel locked in. Otherwise I'd be on to a competitor by now.
Good luck!0 -

Yes. It was not in my login items, and there is no second copy.
I'm still trying to work out a minimal reproducible scenario. But my current theory is that it happens when Bitdefender is starting up at the same time as another program that causes Finder to restart in order to activate a Finder integration. It seems to occasionally reproduce with any of Dropbox, Google Backup and Sync, or pCloud installed. It happens more with multiple similar programs installed. But so far it never reproduces if none of those are installed.0 -

Hello,
Thank you for the details. We have passed them to our development team. At the moment we do not have an workaround for this issue. Once we have more details, we would let you know.0
