How to stop Bitdefender AV from slowing down EaseUS ToDo Backups

I uses EaseUS ToDo to backup my system.

Unless I manually disable the anti-virus, the backup is slowed down some much as to be useless.

If I manually turn off the AV, the backup is reasonably quick.

Is there a way to configure Bitdefender to allow the backup, and/or a scriptable way of turning off the AV (which I can then incorporate into the backup)?

I did that.

I added all the executables that the backup uses, and things still are grossly slow.
