Bit Defender Security Shield and Google Drive Desktop App Mac Constant Sync
Hi, Just trying to alert you. Since Google EOL'd Backup and Sync desktop app and replaced it with Google Drive App I had to replace/upgrade to Google Drive App locally.
I have more than 800Gb on Google drive but I only sync/cache <500Mb locally.
Since the upgrade my Drive was constantly trying to sync files (for days round and round even after uninstall, re-install, clearing caches etc), even ones that are marked as cloud only (most of them).
It has taken me days to work out the cause but the issue seemed to be BitDefender Shield. Once I turned this off and restarted google drive it finally stopped syncing. Now if I turn BitDefender Shield back on it doesn't cause Google Drive to constantly loop syncing files. I tried lots of things and I definitely thing think this is a BitDefender shield specific issue related to upgrade form Backup and Sync to Google Drive App on Mac. Hope this helps others
