How to determine the exact cause of a blocked web site?

We are a web hosting service and recently had a customer's site blocked by BitDefender with a message "Dangerous page blocked for your protection". Unfortunately, it gives no additional information as to exactly what BitDefender thinks it detected or what information was used to determine that the site is dangerous. Other sites on the same IP were not blocked by BD, so it was apparently some content that triggered the warning. With dozens of pages and links on the blocked site, how are we to determine and correct the cause of BitDefender's warning?

    Hi @vdawg ,

Usually it's a case of expired certificates. But until you say exactly what the website is, it's just opinions.

    cheers,

    Mike

  • Thanks. In this case the SSL cert is valid until 1/2022. Is there a log file some place on the user's computer that contains the specific trigger info, or is it required to contact BitDefender support in every case to investigate the site in question?

  • If the cert is valid, then something else is the cause and yes, you should contact our Support team.

    Stay safe,

    Mike
