How to identify which device is which: MAC numbers do not align

We have a family subscription from which we need to delete some old devices no longer being used. But we cannot line up the MAC numbers shown on the devices, with the MAC numbers shown on BD Central. How do we identify which is which?

  • Hello @neilb and welcome to the Community!

There are several ways to do this. The longer version would be to take each device separately and check all the numbers and then match them with Central. If this does not share some insight as to which one is which, the oldest devices should display a 'last seen x days ago' note in Central and if no activity is recorded on that device, it means it is no longer in use.

I think the simplest way would be to delete them directly, the ones that you consider are no longer covered, because even if you delete an active device by mistake, it will appear again in a few minutes, because it has Bitdefender installed on it.

Let me know if this helps.

    Stay safe.

  • The reason BD Central Device Information MAC addresses do not seem to line up with the MAC address on your machines is because BD does not always choose your ethernet MAC address to register to. Sometimes it will be your Bluetooth MAC or your WiFi MAC or your wired MAC or some other MAC in your machine.
