Dear Bitdefender Experts,

is it possible to limit read access to a folder to specific applications and deny that for all other apps using Bitdefender ?

Hello @fkarger and welcome to the Community!

Unsure if an app can do that, but Windows can set a folder as read only and nothing can change its contents.

It depends on what the goal is.

My goal is: I want to protect the contents inside the folder so that the number of apps which can read the contents is minimal and fixed. For example if there is an unknown program like ransomware it would be denied to read the contents.

@fkarger well, ransomware should not go through if you are using Bitdefender in the first place 😊

To add an extra layer of protection for the folders in question, on Windows you can also do this:

1. right-click on the respective folders.
2. Select "Properties."
3. Click "Advanced."
4. At the bottom of the Advanced Attributes menu that appears, check the box labeled "Encrypt contents to secure data"
