Full system scan caused hard crash

When ever I do a full system scan the OS crash about 2 min in. I think the scan over uses resources and crashes. I see usage peak and then the computer blue screens and get error messages related to hung process. Can you please look into the scans use of resources and midigate or resolve this issue.
