How do you temporarily disable vulnerability scans on windows 10 hosts file?

Options

I am trying to make some entries in the Windows 10 Hosts File located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

I have disabled "Scan hosts file" from the Protection -> Vulnerability -> Settings in the Bitdefender UI

However, when I attempt to rename Hosts to Hosts - Old prior to making my edits I get this error

I am in a Command window opened as Administrator and I still get the error.

This is very frustrating. I wish there was one button to temporarily disable everything for 10min so I could make one stupid edit.

  • Hello @TurboCooler,

This doesn't look like something caused by the antivirus. But you can try to temporarily disable the security modules and make the required entries. You can find the steps to do this here:

Let us know how it goes and if you could make the modifications

  • For whatever reason, disabling the setting does not take effect immediately. I rebooted my computer, walked away to do some home chores and then returned and tried again (because I was frustrated) and it worked. I made my changes and then reenabled. It would be nice if what is happening would be more clear.
