Bitdefender Mobile Security Web Protection Vs. VPN
I had support on a chat, and he did nothing but confuse the situation. Why does my Bitdefender Total Security warm me during a mobile scan, that my mobile device is at risk because web protection is not on, when my BD VPN is? They are both listed individually in my iPhone as VPN's. You can't have both on at the same time, and I would assume the VPN is better to have on?
And, if I can't use both at the same time, why does it continue to suggest I switch to web protection, which shuts my VPN off? Heck, on the surface it looks like I purchased the VPN to do the very thing the BD Web Protection does. Very confusing.
Thanks for any clarification.

Hi @Coffee999
I know this may not totally clear up things up, but maybe it will help.
Kind regards,
Scott

Well, that actually did clear it up for me Scott, I thank you for your time spent.
I'm wondering, why in the world, since I purchase BD Total Security, AND BD VPN, AND the Box 2, can't Web Protection be built into the VPN, or the Box 2, so both can be utilized at the same time.

Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android is advised to turn on but it says it needs total controle over the phone and that is possible to read everything on the screen that is typed there. Bit odd isn,t it. This means you can read letters that I type and my Bankaccount pin number. Look to me like a Key Logger?

Hi @MarianP,
Are you referring to this screen?
The Accessibility service is required so Bitdefender can scan and block dangerous websites accessed in browsers. Reading content in this case does not refer to what is being typed. Also, Mobile Security requires each permission for the following reasons:
- Internet access: used for cloud communication.
- Read phone state and identity: used to detect if the device is connected to the internet and to extract certain device info needed to create a unique ID when communicating with Bitdefender cloud.
- Read and write browser bookmarks: The Web Protection module deletes malicious sites from your browsing history.
- Read log data: Mobile Security detects traces of threat activities from the Android logs.
- Location: required for remote location.
- Camera: required for Snap photo.
- Storage: used to allow the Malware Scanner to check the SD card.

They are two differing operating systems in what they can do and handle at the same time.

On a laptop, both the antivirus and VPN can be used at the same time and they are installed as two separate programs. This thread refers to the Web Protection and VPN in the Mobile Security context 🙂

Web Protection & VPN can’t run simultaneously in Bitdefender Mobile Security for iOS
Yes , I’m facing the same problem too , I operate the Web protection, of course it can automatically blocks malicious websites. But my IP address will leak on the internet. I already test it.
It’s strange , AVG and Norton provide Web Protection and VPN run simultaneously in the iPhone. Why? I can't accept another cyber security company can provide this service, but Bitdefender cannot. It’s sucks
