Virus scanner versus Plus version, MacOS
Hi Bitdefenders... I don't know, is that what we call ourselves?
I'm looking at this product and what I really want is the antivirus, antimalware part of the software package. I don't need a VPN, or a password manager, or whatever. Just the antivirus. So, while I had been thinking I would purchase the whole package and just put up with the extras, I now see the free version. But the thing I can't figure out is that the MacOS free version seems to be missing something: mainly antivirus.
Am I reading this right? "Virus Scanner" app on MacOS store doesn't actually scan for MacOS viruses? It only scans for MacOS malware and Windows viruses? Seems a bit deceptive, if I do say so myself. Or is the description a typo?
Thanks

You can check the link provided by Bitdefender support for the free version for Mac OS at:
https://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/virus-scanner-for-mac.html
Additionally, viruses fall under the category of malware only.
Bitdefender anti-malware software for Mac OS can detect viruses, spyware, trojans, keyloggers, ransomware, hack tools, PUPs/PUAs, etc.

If you are using macOS and only require antivirus protection, there's a good 50% off deal for Antivirus for Mac on the official Bitdefender website. I wouldn't cut corners when it comes to security and purchase the full version instead. Sure, virus scanner is great, but Antivirus for Mac offers real-time protection against viruses and ransomware, adware blocking and removal, protection for all your browsing, including online shopping and banking, Time Machine Protection for your backed-up files in case of a ransomware attack, and advanced anti-phishing protection all for roughly 20 euros for the 1st year of subscription and that's a bargain imho.
