Email Protection -additional email doesn't work in OS/X

I recently renewed my subscription to Bitdefender Premium Security and found a new feature called "Email Protection" which claims to be able to protect up to 5 emails.

I routinely use 2 emails in Chrome ... two different profiles ... one for myself and one for my wife.

The way I normally use this is to "Quit Google Chrome" and then open Chrome again and I will be presented with the Profiles for myself and for my wife and I choose which profile I want to use. Then if I choose myself I see all my emails and if I choose her I see all her emails.

After installing Email Protection for my own email address I tried to install it for my wife's email address.

When I type in her email address and perhaps her password in response to the Bitdefender prompts, I get a box that says "Switch to existing Chrome profile? A Chrome Profile with this account already exists" followed by OK and Cancel buttons.

I select OK since it doesn't seem reasonable to create another profile, and then I get a message in a new dialog box entitled GOOGLE saying "400. That's an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That's all we know"

I'm not sure if this email protection is working correctly even for myself since if I choose the email protection tab in Bitdefender it says "Email Accounts" 1 of 5 and below that it has my email address and has a Green spot with the number 532 and a red spot with the number 5, but underneath that it says (always) "Loading" and it never finishes loading.

So essentially it appears Email Protection only works for 1 email address ... I guess it is working since green bars saying "Bitdefender Safe" appear next to most of the emails in my Inbox. At least one of the alleged 4 Unsafe ones was really OK, but at the time I saw it I understood why Bitdefender might consider it unsafe ... I can't recall why that was now.

So I wonder if there is a way to actually add her email to Email Protection successfully. I do have screenshots of all these messages but figure it is inappropriate to add them in a public forum like this.

I am running Sonoma 14.3.1 and Chrome 121.0.6167.184 (Official Build) (arm64).

  • Hello @biyahero,

    Check if this article helps:

It's for Outlook, but I think you shouldn't encounter this if you are using Gmail, since you can switch between accounts directly within the browser interface, avoiding the need to log out and log back in.. if nothing helps and the error persists, I would recommend contacting the Bitdefender Support teams using the link below:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

Scroll down to state your contact reason, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
