Allowing app communication through ?Bit Defender firewall

I'm running Bit Defender internet security and was curious if I have certain apps that require communication with each other do I need to somehow allow the apps through a firewall or allow permissions like I do in Windows Defender or is this not required in Bit Defender also?

Thanks

Dave

  • Yes, similar to Windows Defender, Bitdefender Internet Security also has a firewall that can block certain programs from accessing the internet or the local network. If you have apps that require communication with each other, you might need to allow them through the Bitdefender firewall.

  • Very frustrating using the option to allow Apps to bypass the VPN in split tunneling. Finding Apps to add is hard because the Programs\WindowsApps directory is not only hidden, but it does also not allow access to the apps so they can be added to the split tunneling Add application tab. I know that application programmers could do a better job, but there should be a way to let trusted applications to work in a VPN environment. Bitdefender, please try to fix this aggravation!

  • You can enable the option to show hidden files permanently by following the procedure in the link provided below.

  • Rather than enabling Windows to view hidden files, why doesn't the Bitdefender VPN option to "Allow access to local devices on network" work? My Tablo is on the local network and shouldn't be subjected to the VPN restricting it. Or am I missing something?

  • You will need to contact Bitdefender support to get more information regarding the compatibility between Bitdefender VPN and Tablo.
