Glad that helped. I have had to do this in the past as sometimes the version updates will hang (I suspect due to MS Windows more that BitDefender).

Does the problem happen if the Office 365 program is opened first and then the VPN is started?

You may have to clean the current installation from your system by using the Uninstall Tool and then running a fresh install from your Central Account. The Uninstall Tool is available here

Problem #3 - Did BitDefender find any malicious files or apps? If so, BitDefender will reset certain system values to Microsoft Defaults as part of the remediation routines.

Run the proper uninstall tool from this site: https://www.bitdefender.com/site/view/uninstall_consumer_paid.html Then reboot the system, download the setup from BitDefender Central and see if that will install.

Same issue but a restart of the system seems to allow the firewall to register / start. BUT I do get a Security Center "Action Needed" status in the Notification Tray even though BD TS2018 is running.

What programs were trying to save the files? My MS Office / Open Office programs can save files to those locations just fine. However, I do find it annoying that an installation will 'fail' just because it can not save a icon / link to the desktop.

Regardless of what directory the files are in, if About > Version shows 22.x.xx.****** then you have a 2018 product.

Have you restarted your system since the BD update? You may have to do a total power down and restart to load the new drivers, etc.

Sorry for your troubles. I can not confirm this issue; it seems to work fine on my system. However, in viewing your video, are you trying to make a new file inside a Safe Files location? Safe Files > Protected Folders gives a list of the monitored / locked locations.

From the Main screen > Protection - View Features > Safe Files > click Off. Run the installation and it should have access to the desktop to make a new Icon. Then turn Safe Files back On.

Did you use the uninstall tools ( the one for 2018 is here and the the one for 2017 is here )? These clear all the executable files for Bitdefender off your system so a new install should work better then. Any malware issues or any firewalls installed? Any other real time scanners running on your system?

I would say that this IS BitDefender v2018. For me, this happens after 36 hours of continuous system on time (meaning no restarts or reboots for 36 hours).
