BitDefender stopping Mac from shutting down
Has anyone found that BitDefender stops the Mac from shutting down on macOS Sierra?
I did the upgrade to Sierra a couple of weeks ago, and also at the same time subscribed to BitDefender. However, now I'm finding that the Mac doesn't always shut down - it sometimes sits with a blank dark screen (but you can see that it's slightly lit, so I know that it hasn't shut down) or with the mouse pointer busy spinner continually spinning. I have a feeling it's BitDefender that is contributing to this, because one time the BitDefender "Mac is safe" window was displayed while the shutdown process was frozen. I had to switch the Mac off by holding down the OFF button.

Hi yorkshirecomposer
I purchased Bitdefender 5 days ago and it appeared to work OK. I am new to Bitdefender. Today Bitdefender is exhibiting all the symptoms you describe. It used to scan OK but today if it scans at all it usually freezes/stalls but the time counter continues. Bitdefender won't let me shutdown. I cannot Quit/Force Quit it because Bitdefender does not appear in the list of 'Quitible' applications. I have tried Activity Monitor to try and Quit 'Antivirus for Mac (not responding)' but no luck. Restarting (power off) my Mac is the only solution. I also get Bitdefender popups randomly occurring. I am about to reinstall Bitdefender to see if that provides a solution. In its present state I have no idea if my Mac' is protected or not. I have written to Support and await a solution.0 -
Hello,
Please reboot the machine in Safe Mode.

After this, simply restart your Mac without pressing anything else and it will, by default, start in normal mode.0 -
This doesn't work. I am still searching for a solution short of wiping my hard drive clean and reinstalling everything except Bitdefender. Apple genius also tried and told me I am on my own to single out and delete the culprit however Bitdefender seems to be locked in even after I deleted / uninstalled it.
