McAfee
When I scan with Bit Defender, McAfee fires up and indicates my computer is infected. Bit Defender keeps saying I'm safe.

Hello @Em Gee and welcome to the community.
If you don't have McAfee installed on your device and you receive pop-ups that alert you of an infection, these are most likely fake and their purpose is to trick you to click on them. Once you do this, the notification will redirect you to malicious sites that try to collect your data or install abusive or dangerous software. They may create a sense of urgency, and recommend that you purchase something from them, to get rid of the "infection". Do not do this. Instead, check the discussions below for more context and guidelines to remove such unwanted pop-ups:
A browser reset and removing unwanted extensions from it should be enough as these notifications and pop-ups are browser related. You can find out more about these fake notifications by clicking on this informative Support article posted by the actual vendor:

If you do have a legitimate version of McAfee installed on that device as well, I would advise to uninstall it and keep Bitdefender, because it's not recommended to have multiple security solutions installed on the same device:

It is possible that @Em Gee inadvertently installed McAfee Security Scan.
If so, s/he can just uninstall it.
Just a guess . . .
Have a great day.

Phil
