Settings backup/export/import
In order to avoid problems (including the possibility of bricking my machines) when running updates, especially BIOS, I have to uninstal BitDefender and then reinstall it.
It would help if there were a way of exporting all the user-set settings so that they can be imported to the reinstalled BitDefender. If there's a way of doing this currently, I haven't found it.
It would also help if BD would not refuse to reinstall if there is another AV or scanner on the machine. In this case, I refer to Malwarebytes, and BD should NOT force me to uninstall other software of this sort.

Hello @Foxfan100 and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
This feature has been previously requested by our members on serveral occassions. You might want to check the various discussions on this topic over the years:
We don't have any updates concerning this feature yet.
Regarding your second inquiry, it is not recommended to have more than one security solution installed on your computer at the same time. Having multiple antivirus programs running at the same time will not make your computer more secure. It may degrade performance and even prevent proper malware detection, as the two programs will compete for the same resources. To ensure its proper functionality, you should remove other security solutions prior to installing Bitdefender on your system.

This feature is really needed. I was surprised when I installed there was no way to do this.
Thanks :)

seems that this issue forces me to say goodbye to BD, i don't know why they don't implement this "save and restore" functionality…. it's a bloody shame.

this is SOOO RIDICULOUS that you don't even have a backup/restore settings feature in 2024!! C'mon Bitdefender!!!

I agree completey. There should be a settings backup. I am replacing my wifes laptop and reconfiguring BitDefender, unless you do it on a regular basis, is really difficult. We are looking at a Sonic Wall and/or another anti-Virus product.
When my family subscription will not be removed because of the lack of backup.

@camarie, although you’ve already responded in the other post, could this be something to bring up with the developers? Many other antimalware vendors offer the ability to import and export settings. Reconfiguring each setting after uninstalling and reinstalling a Bitdefender product, one by one, takes a lot of effort.

I did, and at least in my team we agreed this is something definitely to be done. I cannot point to a timeframe at this time, though, but what I can say is that I will start an internal proof of concept in the next days. Will keep the forum posted when the feature is planned and eventually released.
Meanwhile, feel free to ask me any time about it and I will answer with the status.
