How do I get configs for OpenVPN?
Hello!
When I open Bitdefender VPN on my computer, I can't see any additional protocols versus on Android. After researching, I found out that protocols other than Hydra are not supported on desktop. My question is, I want to use OpenVPN, so how could I get the OpenVPN configuration file (.ovpn) so I can use it with the OpenVPN client. Do I have to extract a file from my Android device?
Thanks,
Zack

Bitdefender VPN uses the Hotspot Shield VPN engine. If you want to use OpenVPN, you would need to set up a separate OpenVPN client and use an OpenVPN configuration file (.ovpn) with it.
To get the OpenVPN configuration file, you have two main options:
1) VPN apps with OpenVPN support: Some VPN providers support OpenVPN and allow you to select it from the configuration menu of their app.
2) Manually configuring your connection using OVPN files: This involves downloading and setting up OpenVPN manually by editing configuration files.
If you have an OpenVPN configuration file on your Android device that you want to use on your computer, you might be able to extract it depending on the VPN app you are using. Some VPN apps save VPN configuration (.ovpn) files in plain text and provide an option to export VPN profiles as text files. However, this might not be possible with all apps, especially if they don’t want you to use the service on multiple devices.
Once you have the .ovpn file, you can use it with the OpenVPN client on your computer. The OpenVPN configuration files are usually kept in C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config on Windows.
Kindly note that these steps are provided as general guidance and the exact steps may vary depending on the VPN provider and the specific apps you are using. If you need further assistance, I recommend reaching out to Bitdefender support by visiting https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/
