  • IDS is disabled by default. If you didn't manually enable it, it's normal to be disabled. Try also disabling Active Virus Control (from Antivirus) - AVC is enabled by default. Please follow the same steps as for IDS (as in: make sure Quicken is completely closed). Then post back the result. Cris.
  • OK, now I understood you problem. I, or someone else from Tech Support, will post a suggestion for you tomorrow. Cris.
  • Hello laki71, Could you please explain what do you mean by ”block”? Doesn't that application start at all, or it starts but it doesn't work correctly (for instance, it shows an error - which error?), or it starts but is then closed by Bitdefender (in which case, what message does Bitdefender show)? Please give a little…
  • Hello AaLF, Could you please post an exact URL which causes performance problems? Also, what Firefox version are you running? Do you have any extensions installed in Firefox (which ones)? Cris.
  • Hello, As far as I can see in the older topics about the same issue (I assume you already read them), the users generally reported that the problem was gone once IDS was disabled. Have you tried the same steps to see what the result is? To disable IDS, open BitDefender, go to Firewall and set Intrusion Detection System to…
  • You are welcome, Les. I'm glad I could be of help. Since the issues presented in this topic were solved (both the installation problem and the problems reported in the first post of the topic), I will consider this topic closed. Have a nice day, Cris. == CLOSED == == Issue solved ==
  • Hello Les, I have sent you a Personal Message (PM) with some details. Please read it and send me a reply. Thank you. Cris.
  • I'm not trying to blame it on anything. I have no idea how exactly those permissions got broken. As I said, one of the probable causes was a faulty OS upgrade, but those permissions could have become corrupted by any number of means. As I said (but not detailed), as far as I remember, I also had this problem a long time…
  • Hello Les, I have used Bitdefender from its free days What do you mean by this? I bought Internet Security 2011 but it's in Polish. So, just to male sure that your situation is perfectly clear: You have a computer which runs Windows 7 (it's the one with the problems, the one we are talking about here - it doesn't matter…
  • Hello captien, Such an options has existed for a long time in BitDefender products. You have to open BitDefender, go to Settings -> Update and select Prompt before downloading. After that, BitDefender will automatically check for updates as usual, but before downloading anything, you will be shown a popup which will allow…
  • On the top-right corner on the topic (exactly on the right of the space which also contains the topic title and description), there is an Options button. Click that, and the first option in the menu that appears there is Track this topic. Using that option will activate the subscription for that topic. The same method can…
  • Hello Sean NSW, The ”Update forum” about which Dan was talking is here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showforum=228 (it's for BitDefender 2012 products, and can also be found on the main BitDefender 2012 board, about half-way through the list) The topic in which Dan posts news about released updates is this:…
  • Hello Tom, You can download and test for 30 days, free of charge, to see if the product fits your needs and/or if it creates any performance problems on your system. This is the best approach in the given circumstances, because nobody can actually say if it will create slowdown or not. It all depends on your system and on…
  • Hi, If the problem is fixed by disabling AVC, then you can add the game's executable to the Excluded Processes list. This way, that specific process will be ignored by AVC (thus will work OK), and you won't have to completely disable AVC to play the game (thus avoiding an annoying operation, and keeping a higher security…
  • Hello Reggie_d, Could you please post a screenshot with the popup that you are referring to? Thank you. Cris.
  • Salut Matei, Am încercat și eu acum ultimul build AIMP3 de pe siteul oficial, și nu mi-a apărut problema. Dacă la tine reapare, te rog să postezi setările legate de AVC/IDS pe care le folosești. Cris.
  • Hello Leopack, You can download BitDefender products from here: http://www.bitdefender.com/Downloads/ Or if you prefer direct download links for BitDefender Internet Security 2012 English, here they are: - 32bit: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...is_2012_32b.exe - 64bit:…
  • Colin, I wouldn't recommend excluding whole partitions from RTP, even if they seem ”inactive”. Put it this way: if you don't actually use a partition, does it mean that malware won't either? BitDefender is a security application like any other. While the detection rate is one of the best currently on the market (according…
  • Hello ughihazaskhi, Please try disabling the Active Virus Control temporarily (for testing purposes) and let us know if the problem persists. Cris.
  • You're welcome, Kieran.Driver. If you need further assistance on this matter, please let us know. If the issue is resolved and does not re-appear in the following days, also let us know so we can close this topic. Cris.
  • Hello Kieran.Driver, I can't confirm whether that update works because when i click 'update', nothing happens. What do you mean by this? Are you clicking Update now from the tray icon menu, or from BitDefender's interface? If clicking from the tray icon, indeed, there isn't any feedback (it just checks and updates in the…
  • I kinda doubt that AVC caused the problems with the game settings. More likely, some file corruption occurred (for whatever reason) which made the game reset itself. Of course, I could be wrong. I'm not playing that game, so I can' test. If you are able to reproduce it, please let us know. Otherwise, you can just consider…
  • OK, then try adding the main game executable on the process exclusion list: * Re-enable AVC * Make sure the game is not running * open BitDefender and go to Settings -> Antivirus -> Exclusions -> Excluded processes * Click on Add, then Browse for the game executable file (.exe), make sure that Allow is checked and click…
  • Hello Robert, The Windows Installer error code 2753 usually means that a particular component of the installation package is missing. Are you sure that you have the correct BitDefender installer? Maybe it got corrupted while downloading it, or maybe you downloaded the wrong package. Where did you download the installation…
  • Hello _Diego_, There is one thing that you are not taking into consideration. BitDefender products have a smart scan feature (this was present in previous versions also, not just in 2012). This feature is enabled by checking the option to Scan only new and changed files from the custom on-access scanning options (if I'm…
  • Hello all, Just to clarify: Autoscan and the Realtime Protection are different things. The Realtime Protection (RTP) automatically scans (in realtime) files accessed by other processes running in the system. Turning this feature off leaves the computer unprotected from threats that could affect it's well functioning.…
  • Hello betikan, Just out of curiosity, could you post some files that were removed and not belonging to that game? I believe this is rather a serious issue with that game's installer/uninstaller. If the problem is so serious, then you should drop a note to the game's developers. Cris.
  • Hello Kieran.Driver, Please try to disable (just for testing purposes) the Active Virus Control and/or the Intrusion Detection System modules in BitDefender. Afterwards, test again and post the results. Make sure the game is not running while making these changes or, to make sure, try restarting you system after disabling…
  • You're welcome, _Diego_. Glad I could help. Cris.
